Death
HIGH POINT, April 4 — John Madison Furr, 83, of Route 1, Guilford, died at 7:15 a.m. yesterday in High Point Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for eight years and in a critical condition for one week. He was a native of Stanly County, a farmer, and a member of Guilford Baptist Church. Surviving are six sons, Earl Furr of the home, Clarence, Glenn, Buck, and Elwood Furr, all of High Point, and Horace Furr of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. G. L. Thompson of the home, Mrs. R. L. White of Route 3, High Point, Mrs. Lonnie Dickens of Raleigh and Miss Ramella Furr of New York City; one brother, G. C. Furr of Greensboro; four sisters, Mrs. Wade Lowder and Mrs. Mary Hill, both of Albemarle, Mrs. Charles Sells of Route 8, Concord, and Mrs. Sam Hampton of Rockwell; and 34 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Home today at 3 p.m. by Dr. C. K. Rand, pastor of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church.
