Death
Mrs. Sarah Furr Thompson, 82, of Rt. 9, Greensboro, died at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenhaven Nursing and Convalescent Center. She had been in declining health for five years. Mrs. Thompson was born Oct. 3, 1892, in Stanly County, a daughter of John M. and Cora Lee Lowder Furr. A resident of Rt. 9, Greensboro for 45 years, she was married Dec. 27, 1913, to Grover L. Thompson. He died Jan. 1, 1946. She was a member of Guilford Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Robert G. Thompson of Tampa, Fla., and R. Leon Thompson of Charlotte; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. R. L. (Minnie) White of Rt. 3, High Point, Mrs. L. A. (Marie) Dickens of High Point and Miss Ramelle Furr of Rt. 9, Greensboro; and five brothers, J. Clarence Furr of 1111 Adams St., Earl H. Furr of Rt. 9, Greensboro, Horace M. Furr of College Park, Md., Glenn Furr of 228 Boulevard and W. Elwood Furr of Rt. 4, High Point. Funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Sechrest Chapel by the Rev. Macon Greene. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home, and the family will be at the funeral home Wednesday night 7 until 9. The family requests that memorials be directed to Guilford Baptist Church, rather than to the funeral.The High Point Enterprise, High Point, North Carolina, April 1, 1975
