Death
Grover Carr Furr Sr. of 1010 Sunset Drive, a retired Burlington Industries vice president, died Monday in Central Piedmont Nursing Home in Burlington. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Guilford Memorial Park. Furr was a Stanly County native and attended Palmerville Institute for Boys in Stanly County. He was the founder and owner of Lee Hosiery Mill in South Carolina. Burlington Industries named one of its mills the Grover Furr Mill in his honor. Furr had been a director of the Southern Hosiery Manufacturing Association and had been a board member of the Guilford County Heart Association. He was a Mason, member of the Greensboro Country Club, Sedgefield Country Club, and West Market Street United Methodist Church, where for several years he served on the board of trustees. Survivors are wife, Mrs. Mary Seott Furr; sons, Grover Furr of Hollywood, Fla., James Furr and Craig Furr of Spring Hill, Fla.; seven grandchildren. The family will be at the residence 7-8:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.News and Record, Greensboro, North Carolina, May 26, 1987
