Death
Furr, James William, 90, of Brooksville, died Monday (Jan. 1, 2007) in Brooksville. Born in Newton, N.C., he came to this area 36 years ago from Akron, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a chemist for Burlington Industries. He was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene of Spring Hill. He was a former trustee of the First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill. He was a member of the Gideons International. He had been active with prison ministries and the Billy Graham Ministries. He was part of a mission trip to Colombia. He was a volunteer with the Spring Hill Fire Department. He was a former president of the Spring Hill Garden Club and the Hernando County Audubon Society. Survivors include his wife, Geneva E. Wilson; a son, James William Furr Jr., Salt Lake City; a daughter, Karen "Kay" McLain, Spring Hill; a brother, Grover Carr Furr Jr., South Florida; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
