Death
Funeral services for Beecher Z. Furr, 60, of 1800 East Boulevard, will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home with Rev. J. F. Crigler in charge assisted by Rev. G. T. Bond. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Furr was district manager of the Durham Life insurance company until last February when he retired from active management of the local office. He died early Sunday morning at a local hospital after a short illness. Pallbearers will be R. E. Pope, W. W. Hamilton, R. C. Shaw, C. S. Nesbit, W. J. Beardsley, C, E, Eaves. Survivors are the widow and nine children, Mrs. John F. Laughlin of Chimney Rock, Mrs. H. L. Brown of 215 Cottage place, Mrs. J. L. Hartsell of 120 South Torrence street, B. Z. Furr, Jr., James F. Furr, Miss Catherine Furr, Conrad Furr, Miss Carol Furr, and Boyette Furr all of 1800 East Boulevard. The following brothers and sisters also survive: W. C. Furr of Stanfield, C. M. Furr of San Antonio, Texas, L. F. Furr of Charlotte, Mrs. S. T. Lineberger of Greenville, S. C., Mrs. H. A. Michall of Mount Holly. Mr. Furr was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. Furr of Mount Holly. He was educated at Lenoir Rhyne college at Hickory and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church of Charlotte.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, June 24, 1935
