Death
Mrs. Carrie Black Furr, age 86, of 5149 Providence Rd. died Tuesday, May 27, 1969 in a local hospital after being in failing health for eight months. Born May 28, 1882 in the Bethel Community of Cabarrus County, her parents were the late James A. and Sarah Carriker Black. Mrs. Furr was reared in Cabarrus County and was a resident of Charlotte for the past 75 years. Her husband, Beachum Zerobia Furr died in 1935. She was a charter member of Dilworth United Methodist Church, also a charter member of the Red Cross Circle of the church. Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm. Thursday at the Harry and Bryant Chapel in The Oaks, conducted by the Rev. Thomas B. Stockton, the Rev. L. F. Strader and the Rev. James Boles, all of the Dilworth United Methodist Church. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Survivors are five sons, B. Z, Boyette E., F. Conrad, and R. Carrol Furr, all of Charlotte, James M. Furr of Fort Mill; four daughters, Mrs. John F. Laughlin of Chimney Rock, Mrs. H. Lawton Brown, Mrs. Madeline F. Hartsell, both of Charlotte, Mrs. Heath Little of Winston-Salem; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, John Samuel Black of Tampa, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie B.
