Death
CHARLOTTE - Madeline Furr Hartsell, 90, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at Providence Hospital, Columbia, S.C. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, in Sharon Memorial Park, with the Rev. Douglas R. Fairbanks Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the Harry and Bryant Chapel, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday, and following the service at home. She was born on Dec. 21, 1906, in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late B.Z. Furr and Carrie Black Furr. Mrs. Hartsell was educated in the Charlotte schools and was a retired secretary with Duke Power Company. She was the wife of the late Jackson L. Hartsell, who preceded her in death in 1962. She was a member of Dilworth United Methodist Church. Survivors include her twin daughters, Wayne H. Taylor and her husband, Dr. Clyde L. Taylor of Greensboro, and Jayne H. Thacker of Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, Conrad Furr of Lake Wylie, S.C., and Boyette Furr and Carol Furr, both of Charlotte; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be made to Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605 East Boulevard, Charlotte, N.C. 28203; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
