Death
Mrs. Evelyn Furr Laughlin, of Lake Lure, NC, died Tuesday, October 2, 1984 of an extended illness. She was born October 31, 1902 in Charlotte, NC, daughter of Beacham Zebulon Furr and Carrie Edwards Black. She is survived by her husband, John F. Laughlin, after 62 years of marriage. Mrs. Laughlin was a member of and played the organ 25 years for The Episcopal Church of Transfiguration in Batcave, NC. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 1984 at 11:00 at The Episcopal Church of Transfiguration in Batcave, NC. She will be buried immediately following at the Chimney Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Jerry Furr Laughlin of Pinehurst, NC; two grandsons, Richard Laughlin of Utah and J. L. Laughlin of VA; four brothers, Robert Carol Furr and Boyette Edward Furr, both of Charlotte, Francis Conrad Furr of Lake Wylie, SC and James Martin Furr of Wrightsville Beach, NC; two sisters, Mrs. Jack L. Hartsell and Mrs. Henry L. Brown, both of Charlotte. Friends may send memorials to The Episcopal Church of Transfiguration in Batcave, NC 28710. The family will be at the home.
