Death
CONCORD—Walter C. Furr, 85, retired farmer of the Georgeville community and father of Carl A. Furr, superintendent of Cabarrus County schools, died Wednesday afternoon at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Cabarrus County. The Rev. Luther R. Sloop, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. Mr. Furr was born July 26, 1870, in the Georgeville community and lived there all his life. He was the son of the late Martin L. and Catherine Dry Furr. His wife, Mrs. Rena Little Furr, died in 1947. In addition to the son here, survivors include three other sons, Charlie Furr of Albemarle, Earl Furr of Charlotte, and Coy Furr of Miami, Fla.; three daughters, Miss Lela Furr of the home and Miss Alma Furr and Mrs. Ola Abernathey of Charlotte; a sister, Mrs. Hugh Michael of Mt. Holly; a brother, C. M. Furr of San Antonio, Tex.; and five grandchildren.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, May 11, 1956
