Marriage
Mr. and Mrs. L. Franklin Furr Wish to announce their marriage of July 20, 1915. Which took place at Dr. E. K. McLarty's, pastor of Tryon Street Methodist church, who officiated. The cake was then cut, after manw congratulations, with the wollowing results: "Miss Willie Mae Hill," (Mrs. Furr) cut first and got the penny, Miss Annie Simpson the thimble, Miss Mary Vanderberg the dime, Miss Stella Wingate the button, and Miss Ruby Hill the ring. Delicious ices and fruits were served. Mrs. Fudd is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hill. She was a student at Elizabeth college and commands a host of friends here. She is exceptionally pretty and bright. Mr. Furr is a popular young businessman of the city being employed with the H.C. Long Co. Mr. and Mrs. Furr left at ten-thirty for Mt. Holly where they will reside for the present with Mr. Furr's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Furr.Death
Luther Franklin Furr, 58, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock at his home at 1201 36th street. The body will remain at Hovis Funeral home until 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, at which time services will be conducted at the Hovis chapel. Rev. C. C. Benton, assistant pastor of First Methodist church, will officiate assisted by Rev. C. K. Rhodes of St. Mark's Lutheran church. Interment will be in Oaklawn cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be F. L. Harkey, Phillip S. Halady, H. L. Brown, Earl M. Furr, T. H. Suther, and T. K. Moore. Mr. Furr was born August 14, 1890, in Stanly county, son of the late Martin Luther and Catherine Drye Furr. He had operated Furr company, a general merchandise store in North Charlotte, for 26 years. Mr. Furr was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church. Surviving Mr. Furr are his wife, Mrs. Willie Mae Hill Furr; one son, William Franklin Furr of the University of Miami; two brothers, Walter C. Furr of Stanly county and Charles M. Furr of San Antonio, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Hugh A. Michel of Mount Holly and Mrs. S. T. Lineberger of Greenville, S.
