Phillip Monroe Furr, 69, a retired farmer of route 3, Albemarle, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at his home. He was a son of the late Daniel and Bethany Hatley Furr of Stanly County. His wife, the former Laura Furr, preceeded him in death. He is survived by the following children: Ellis of Mt. Pleasant, Ethel, Sarah Jane, and Maggie Leen, all of route 3, Albemarle; Doris of the home, Mrs. Florence Eudy of route 2, Stanfield; Mrs. Lloyd Almond of route 1, Mt. Pleasant; Homer of Concord, Mrs. Krone Eudy of route 1, Stanfield; Mrs. Reid Robertson of route 1, Richfield; Ernest of route 4, Albemarle; and Doris of Kannapolis; 24 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Berry Furr of route 1, Stanfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Adam Furr of route 1, Stanfield; Mrs. Morris Furr of New London RFD, and Mrs. John Page of Albemarle. Funeral services for Mr. Furr were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist church, conducted by Elder Jason Eudy, assisted by Rev. Mr. Treece.
