Death
Paul DeBerry Furr, 83, of Route 1, Stanfield, died late Wednesday afternoon in a nursing home in Concord after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Cliff Allen. Burial will be in the chruch cemetery. The body was taken late Thursday afternoon from Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Almond at Standfield, to remain until taken to the chruch to lie in state 30 minutes ahead of the rites. A native of Stanly County, Mr. Furr was son of the late Daniel and Beth Annie Hatley Furr. He was married to the former Miss Mattie J. Page, who preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, John, Arthur, and Paul, Jr., all of Albemarle; three daughters, Mrs. James Helms of Concord, Mrs. William Speights of Albemarle and Mrs, Lloyd Almond of Stanfield; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.Endnotes
