Death
CONCORD — Dora Bell Furr Helms, 83, 3756 N.C. Highway 73 East, died Thursday (Jan. 8, 1998) at her home. Born Oct. 14, 1914, in Stanly County, Mrs. Helms was a daughter of the late Berry and Mattie Jane Page Furr. She retired from the sample room at Collins & Aikman in 1982 and was a member of West Concord Baptist Church. Survivors include husband James Floyd Helms; daughters Pat Shue, Concord, Shirley Barbee, Woodleaf, and Jane Safrit, Salisbury; son James Eury, Maryland; brother Arthur Furr, Albemarle; sisters Bertha Speight, Albemarle, and Bessie Almond, Stanfield; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, conducted by the Rev. Michael Farley. Burial, Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, Concord.
