Death
Mrs. Mary Josephine Furr, 72, of Route 1, Stanfield, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Stanly County Hospital about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Death was sudden, attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Cliff Allen and Elder Jason Eudy officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. A native of Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Bethena Hatley Furr and was married to Adam L. Furr, who preceeded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Martha J. Furr of the home; three step-sons, Milliard and Grover of Route 3, Albemarle and Luther of Concord; six step-sisters, Mrs. Dora Furr of the home, Mrs. Rose Annie Whitley and Mrs. Ellis Burris of Route 3, Albemarle, Mrs. Oscar Burris of Route 1, New London; Mrs. Luther Almond of Route 2, Stanfield, and Mrs. Albert Tucker of Route 1, Oakboro; one brother, Berry Furr of Albemarle; and two sisters, Mrs. John Page and Mrs. Marshall Furr of Albemarle.Endnotes
