Death
CONCORD - Martha Furr Starnes Coppaway, 74, of 135 Phifer Ave. N.W., Concord, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Liberty Nursing Home and Rehabilitation. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord. Elder Ronnie Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, Concord. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. Born Oct. 19, 1930, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Adam Furr and Mary Josephine Furr Furr. She was a seamstress for United Mills & Harper Hosiery Mills and worked at Metrolina Greenhouse in Huntersville. She attended Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, W.E. “Willie” Starnes, and husband, Floyd James Coppaway; eight sisters; and five brothers. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
