ALBEMARLE -- Homer Monroe Furr, 85, died February 20, 2007. Funeral 2 PM Friday at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Interment in church cemetery. Visitation 6-8 PM Thursday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Published in the Charlotte Observer on 2/21/2007.Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007 — Homer Monroe Furr, 85, of 31618 Clete Road, Albemarle, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, in Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday with a 30-minute state in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Rommie Williams will officiate and burial will be in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. Born Dec. 18, 1921, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Phillip Monroe and Laura Jane Furr Furr and was a retired cloth winder. Two brothers, Ellis Furr and Ernest Furr, and six sisters, Ethel Eudy, Maggie Lean Furr, Sarah Jane Furr, Florence Eudy, Ruth Almond and Edna Robinson, preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, J. Dois Furr of Albemarle; two sisters, Dorsie Furr of Albemarle and Mary Lou Eudy of Locust; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. At other times they will meet at his home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001, or Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 200 Holt Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
