Death

Ellis James Furr, 90, of 943 Page St., Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at 1:20 p.m. in NorthEast Medical Center. His funeral will be today at 4 p.m. in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Stanly County. Elder Ted Morton and The Rev. Thomas Gibbs will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Born Jan. 21, 1909, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Phillip Monroe and Laura Jane Furr Furr and was a retired equipment operator, last employed by Culp Brothers. He was a member of Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was married to the late Pearl Pauline Johnson Furr, who died Oct. 31, 1991. He is survived by two daughters, Marie Furr Shoe of Mt. Pleasant and Frances Furr Hartsell of Stanfield; three brothers, Ernest Furr and Homer Furr, both of Concord, and J. Dois Furr of Albemarle; two sisters, Dorsie Furr of Albemarle and Mary Lou Eudy of Stanfield; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 928, Concord, N.C. 28025. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is in charge.
