Gilbert E. Lovro

Gilbert farmed in MN until 1953, sold farm, purchased gas station and store in Almora, MN in 1953. Sold and moved to Brandon, MN where he moved about the county putting up grain bins - 1954. Moved to St. Paul, MN 1955 - worked in gas station until retiring. Lived late years with daughter LaVonne in Henning, MN and then to St. Matthew's retirement home in Parker's Prairie in 1992.

Gilbert E. Lovro, age 92, of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Hendricks, died on Monday, July 3, 1995, at St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
Funeral services were held at Singsaas Lutheran Church in South Dakota, near Hendricks, on Saturday, July 8th. Reverend John Trom was the officiant with Julie Hogie as organist. The congregation sang "Rock of Ages", "How Great Thou Art", and Beautiful Savior".
Casket bearers were the grandchildren, Eugene Lovro Jr., Jim Lovro, Lee Christopherson, Boby Aldrich, Keith Kapinos, and Wendy Grabow. Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Markham LaMere Funeral Home.
Gilbert was born to Elief and Sofia (Moen) Lovro on September 25, 1902, near Hendricks, where he attended school and grew up. He was united in marriage to Agnes Olson on April 4, 1924. They made their home and farmed north of Hendricks until they moved to Almora in 1953. There Gilbert operated Gilbert then lived with family until he entered St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
He is survived by one son, Eugene of Cottage Grove, three daughters, Ruby Christopherson of St. Paul, JoAnn Lovro of Aurora, Colorado, and LaVonne (Floyd) Aldrich of Henning, three step-daughters, Lea Lindorfer of Oregon, Pat Bray of St. Paul, and Kathy Holt of Oakdale, three step-sons, Jim Mullin of Mahtomedi, Bill Mullin of Nevada, and Michael Mullin of White Bear Lake. Gilbert is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, and many step-grand-children and step-great-grandchildren.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, two wives Agnes and Marguarite, six brothers, one sister, one son, Gilbert Jr., three daughters, Adeline, Gloria Kapinos, and an infant daughter, two grandsons, one great-grandson, one great-granddaughter, and one step-son, Al Mullin.
