Gilbert J. Lovro, 51, Vining, died Sunday, Oct. 24, at his home in Folden Township. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Folden Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gerrit Van Hunnik will officiate. Burial will be in the Folden Lutheran Church Cemetery.
He was born April 13, 1931, one of eight children of Gilbert and Agnes (Olson) Lovro, Sr. in Hendricks. He attended rural schools in Hendricks, then worked with his father and was later employed by Northwestern Bill Telephone Co. for 17 years. He married Shirley Salvaag June 11, 1955 in Folden Lutheran Church.
Mr. Lovro had entered the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After the war, he worked as a handyman in Almora. He later re-entered the Army and served one year in Massachusetts and two years in Germany before returning to Folden Township. He also served as a church deacon.
Surviving are his wife; his father in Stacy; three daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Wendy) Grabow, Mrs. Craig (Dawn) Cordes and Jill Lovro, all of Vining; four sisters, Mrs. William (Gloria) Kapinos, Mora, Mrs. Leonard (Ruby) Christopherson, St. Paul, Joanne Lovro of California, and Mrs. Floyd (LaVonne) Aldrich, Henning; a brother, Eugene, St. Paul; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday at Belmont Funeral Home, Henning. Prayer services there will be 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
