Collision Near Elkton Saturday Injures Couple A car-truck-trailer collision on a highway intersection about six miles south of Elkton, S. D. at 9:45 a.m. Saturday resulted in the hospitalization of Mr. and Mrs. Even Lovro of rural Hendricks.
The couple, age 67 and 69, respectively, was enroute to Sioux Falls to visit a nephew who was injured in a recent explosion in a dairy where he was employed.
Mr. and Mrs. Lovro were traveling south at the time when they collided with a truck drawing an implement trailer on which was loaded a tractor.
The Lovro car struck the truck-trailer combination at the hitching point which caused the trailer and truck to "jackknife" around the front of the car, which, it was said, may be irrepairable. The Lovro car remained upright on the highway but the resulting impact shook the occupants about.
The Lovros were brought to the Hendricks hospital by an ambulance from Flandreau, S. D. He required several stitches for a head would and received other bruises and was released from the hospital Monday. Mrs. Lovro's injuries were more severe, including several fractured ribs on her left side, a bruised left arm and other minor bruises. Her hospital stay will be longer. It was necessary to pry the car door open to extricate them.
