After Jacob's death in 1922 -- Laura married Jacob's brother, Even, in 1927.
Laura Bertine Lovro was born on March 4, 1894, in the Dakota Territory near Astoria, South Dakota, to parents Lars and Bertha (Froiland) Friestad. She was baptized and confirmed at Singsaas Lutheran Church in rural Hendricks, where she was a lifelong member. Laura worked in the homes of neighbors, and at the cafe in Astoria. On October 23, 1916, she was married to Jacob Lovro. To this union, a daughter, Judith was born. Jacob passed away in 1922. On September 24, 1927, she was married to Even Lovro. Even passed away in 1972. Some of Laura's enjoyments in life included baking and visiting with family and friends.
Laura is survived by three sons: Eldon (Jean) Lovro of Astoria, SD, Gerald (Joan) Lovro of Hendricks, and Earl (Carol) Lovro of Bruce, SD; eight grandchildren: Janet (Greg) Tollefson, Joan (Daryl) Skoog, Carla (Craig) Brock, Garnet (Charles) Volquardsen, Susan (Bernard) Lampe, Michael (Sandi) Lovro, Steven (JoAnn) Lovro, and Rebecca (Todd) Benz; 16 great grandchildren: Darren Skoog, Kara and Kailee Brock, Nehemiah, Micah, Naomi, and Matthew Volquardsen, Jared and Paige Lampe, Jordan, Evan and Elizabeth Lovro, Joshua, Ryan and Megan Lovro, and Gavin Benz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her daughter, Judith; 11 brothers and sisters; and 11 nieces and nephews.
