Rosina BRENIMAN

Rosina was appointed guardian of her children, Eugene, Rudolph and Julia, when her husband Myron died. The application was dated 31 Oct 1890. In August of 1903 Evan Whitney made a report to the court stating that Rosina Whitney was a person of unsound mind. He states that Julia L. (Lela) had died since the settling of Myron's estate, Lela dying without a will, leaving her mother the only heir at law. The two sons, Eugene and Rudolph had reached their majority. Evan stated that all costs of the guardianship had been paid and settled and asked that Rosina might be discharged as the guardian and the surety money be released.

Death Notice... Mrs. Rosana, relict of Myron Whitney, aged 62 years, died at her home in Brooklyn at 11 p.m. Monday, July 17, 1905, after a long illness, the last year of her life being spent under the care of a trained nurse. The funeral took place at 10 p.m. Wednesday from the Presbyterian church, in Brooklyn, to the Odd Fellows cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Whitney of this place attended the funeral. --- Deep River Record ---
OBITUARY...
Rosina Breniman Whitney was born in Switzerland, Jan 18, 1840 and came to this country July 1862 (s/b 1852) and located in Ohio where she lived for three years and then moved to Poweshiek County, Iowa where she resided until her death.
She was married to Myron Whitney Nov 11, 1868. Myron Whitney was born in Vermont and died Dec 20, 1889, aged 62 years, 9 months and 10 days. To this union were born three children, Eugene, Rudolph and Lela. Lela died in Brooklyn July 17, 1899. The two sons remain to mourn a mother's loss. She joined the Presbyterian Church early in life and was an earnest supporter of the Masters' cause. She was of quiet and retiring disposition, a woman the world never knew, but of true character and genuine worth, known only to a small circle of friends.
Services at Presbyterian Church last Wednesday morning conducted by her paster Dr. E. Benson.
