Individual Details
Robert Pippin
(Abt 1729 - Aft 1778)
Wife unknown. Children may have been Robert and William who migrated to Russell County, VA, Zachariah, John, Elijah, and Joseph. Their existence is based on circumstantial evidence and the fact that the other Pippins removed from Maryland. No daughters identified.
Robert may have suffered from some affliction as his brothers Solomon & John were paid for his care in 1762 and 1768. Robert was referred to as "a poor Madman" and "a distracted man". He was transacting business in 1759 and apparently signed the Oath of Allegiance in the enumeration of 1778, so his affliction may not have been lasting. Robert lived in Queen Anne's Co, MD until December of 1773 when the part of the county where he lived became Caroline Co.
In order to determine who had not signed the Oath of Fidelity, there was a census in 1778. On March 1, Choptank Hundred, Caroline Co, is found Robert Pippen, Sr., Robert Pippen, Jr., William Pippen and Uriah [Zachariah] Pippen.
Robert does not appear on the 1790 census; however, there was an older male & female in the household of Robert's son Elijah.
