Joseph Pippin

(Mar 1727 - Abt 1791)

Holy Trinity Old Swedes Church records Joseph age as six weeks when he was baptised 23 Apr 1727. Although theis church was located in Wilmington, DE, it ministered to what was called "Christiana", parts of what is now Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, & Maryland. By the time of his marriage to Margarit MacCoy, St. Luke's Parish in Queen Anne's Co MD had been formed.

Probably Margarit died soon after the marriage. She was a party to leasing of land in November of 1750, but nothing further is known. It is not known for sure when Joseph married Barbery but his first known child was not born until 12 years after the marriage to Margarit, so it seems reasonable to assume that Barbary may have been the mother of his children. However, her name is not mentioned until it appears in Joseph's Will.

Joseph migrated to North Carolina with brothers, John, Benjamin and Solomon; witnessed a deed there in 1768 and is on the 1790 Census for Edgecombe County.

He executed a will on 3 Apr 1791 naming his wife Barbary and sons, William, John and Arthur and grandchildren Polly Garrot and Caleb Davis. Daughters Peggy Garrett and Patience Davis are named in the Aug 1806 property division of their brother John.
