When Mamie's brother, Clifford, died in 1945 she volunteered to take care of
his daughter, Frances. She did this for about a year. At that time Edna
married Johnnie Adam and the family was re-united in Jordan, Montana. Mamie
and George were living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the time.

Rites for Former Harris Resident
Funeral services were conducted from the First Lutheran church at Harris on Wednesday, September 15, for Mrs. Mamie Hawkinson Houghton, former Harris resident, who passed away on September 11th at her home in Milwaukee, following a heart ailment.
Rev. O. B. Nelson officiated at the funeral services with singing furnished by Mrs. Arthur Youngquist. Miss Alice Anderson was organist. Pallbearers were John Carlson, Enoch Collins, Gilbert Nelson, Rueben Stark, Curtis Barker and Henry F. Johnson. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Harris.
Mrs. Mamie Hawkinson Houghton was born at Harris on June 6, 1900. She was baptized and confirmed at the Harris Lutheran Church and grew to womanhood there.
On March 31, 1927, she was united in marriage to George L. Houghton and to this union one son, Charles, was born. The deceased made her home in Milwaukee until her death at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 5 days.
Left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Houghton are her son Charles; four brothers, Alfred Hawkinson of Jordan, Mont., Carl Hawkinson of Rosebud, Mont., Harry Hawkinson of Rush City and Gilbert Hawkinson of Yakima, Washington; one sister, Mrs. Enoch Collins of Harris; a half-sister Mrs. Mildred Hakeseth of Siren, Wis., and a large circle of friends and relatives. Her husband preceded her in death December 1, 1952.
