Death
CANADYS — The Rev. Harold Ellsworth Furr, 80, and Methodist minister died Saturday, Dec. 31 at his residence. The funeral was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Burial directed by Parker Funeral Home. Rev. Furr was born in Indian Trail, N.C., a son of Fulton Lanier Furr and Maranda Yandle Furr. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He was a member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge, Round O, for 48 years. Surviving are his widow, Bernice Bailey Furr; a son, Col. Marshall W. Furr of Columbia; a daughter, Hermione F. Carter of Columbia; seven brothers, Don Furr of Indian Trail; Henry Furr of Charlotte, N.C., Edward Furr of Sanford, N.C., Dewitt Furr of Stanley, N.C. Maurice Furr of Rockingham, N.C., Max Furr of Monroe, N.C., and Wade Furr of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two sisters, Edith F. Bailey of Canadys and Mildred F. Rushing of Marshville, N.C.
