Death
Lloyd B. Furr, former Charlottean, who was a veteran of 15 years’ service in the Marine corps, died on August 24 in the Veterans’ hospital at Roxbury, Mass., it was learned here last night. Victim of a tropical disease he contracted while on Wake island during his eight months’ tour of duty overseas, he had received medical discharge from the corps and had been hospitalized for the last five months, as his health steadily declined, Services for Mr. Furr will be conducted Monday at Dorchester, Mass. The former Marine, who was 36 years old, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Furr of Indian Trail. Other survivors are his wife, the former Miss Jerry Durling of Dorchester, Mass, and the following brothers and sisters: Miss Edna Furr of Charlotte, Harold E. Furr of Charleston, S. C., Sgt. Morris Furr of Rockingham, Mrs. Frank Owens of Indian Trail, Miss Mildred Furr, Max and Den Furr, all of Charlotte; Mrs. Madison Bailey of Charleston, and Henry, Olen D., and Wade J.
