Death
Mr. Henry Sloan Furr, 78, of Charlotte died August 26, 1996, at his home. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Kenneth Geoffrey Hardin officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7- 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hankins & Whittington. Mr. Furr was a native of Union county, attended Fairview School in Indian Trail, and was a WWII US Navy veteran. He retired after 45 years of service as a supervisor with Southern Bell and was a member of Pioneers America and Communication Workers of America. Mr. Furr was a member of Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Furr; sons, John W. Furr and wife, Donna, and Henry Bryan Furr, all of Charlotte; daughters, Sandra Kaye Kiser of Charlotte, Brenda Sue Watson and husband, Stan, of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Tammy Lee Coyle and husband, Peter, of Wilmington, NC; six grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church, 920 N. Sharon Amity Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211; or Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
