Joseph Pippin Jun entered 160 acres on waters of Flins Crk begin on the branch below his Tobacco patch; including the place & improvement where he now lives. 21 Jul 1836.
Grant #7969, Entry #2371 was for 160 acres on Blackburn's Fork of Roaring River in Jackson Co TN, 20 Jul 1831. Survey made 29 Nov 1838 describes the tract "on the waters of Flynns Creek"
This land was sold by the children of Joseph and Susannah in 1867 after they had both died.
7 Sep 1867. John I. Pippin, James P. Pippin, Elizabeth Jackson, Sally Ann Jackson, and A. J. Jackson, sold unto Amos G. Jackson & his wife Elizabeth a tract in Jackson Co Civil District #12, both sides of the Granville Road being part of the 160 acres granted by the State of Tennesse unto Joseph Pippin, Grant #7969. The price was $200.
Family is in 1850 Census, Jackson County, TN, District 12, p.274B, Household 537.
Some of the descendants believe he died at the age of 43, about 1854. It isn't assured the following Susan was the same as Susanna but there was no other Susan or Susanna Pippin identified in Jackson Co at this time.
10 Aug 1854. Susan Pippin signed a note for $8.
14 May 1857. fi fa issued against Susan Pippin for $7.80 owed to William H. Billingley, Sherriff.
"Suzer" Pippin, age 44, was head of household on the 1860 census. Joseph's lands were still on the tax rolls in 1862.
The Pioneer Pippin History says he was struck by lightning and died.
