Lucretia Pippin

(Abt 1760 - Aft Nov 1846)

John Bunting was the son of Daniel Bunting and Elizabeth Council. Lucretia was John's second wife. He had at least one son named Lawrence by the first wife whose name if unknown (apparently this son did not survive since he was not mentioned in John's will). John and Lucretia had two children, Richard & Mary.

Possibly Lucretia was living with John prior to their marriage. The Edgecombe Co Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions for May 1802 directed that John Burntin post bond re the base born child of Lucretia Pippin. Securities were Joseph Pippin, her brother, and Asa Brown, her brother-in-law.

The family is on the 1810, 1820 & 1840 censuses in Edgecombe Co.

John died prior to Nov 1846, leaving 1/3 of his estate to his wife Creasy Buntin, one third to daughter Mary, and one third to grandson William Buntin, son of his son Richard. After the death of his wife, her share was to be divided between Mary and William. His will was dated 16 May 1837 and proven in the November Court of 1846.
