Individual Details

Rebecca Pippin

(Abt 1770 - Bef 1840)

Rebecca married Asa Brown, brother to Appy Brown who had married Rebecca's brother Noah. This was Asa's 2nd marriage and there are sons Lemmon & Bary and a daughter from that earlier marriage. The marriage took place between 3 Mary 1805 when Mary Newsom Pippin wrote her will, witnesses by Rebecca Pippin, and 25 May 1806, the date of the estate settlement of Olive Pippin.

Asa was administrator of his father's estate and guardian for his brother William.

5 Mar 1821, Asa made deed for 120 1/2 acres to his sons Lemmon & Bary Brown for love and affection and 10 shillings.

In 1840 Edgecombe Co census, Asa appears to be the male, age 60-70, living with his son Theopilus Brown. Early censuses show other children but Theopilus is the only child identified as a child of Asa & Rebecca.

Rebecca died after Nov 1829 and before 1840. Asa died about 1843. The sale of his property was held 25 Jan 1843 with an additional sale on 21 Aug 1843.
