Benjamin Pippin

(Abt 1762 - Bef 1790)

There were three Benjamin Pippins in Edgecome & Martin Counties NC from 1760-1780. The Benjamin of Martin Co was the son of the immigrant John. The two Benjamins of Edgecombe were his nephews, one the son of John II and this one, son of Solomon.

Here is one of the Benjamins - probably too many children to be this one; would be his first cousin.
1790 Census. Edgecombe, NC
Benjamin Pippin: 1m under 16. 1m over 16. 6 females. 3 slaves.

Wife, Mary Newsom, was the daughter of Thomas & Hannah Newsom. Mary & Benjamin were married after her father's will which was dated 16 Nov 1778, because he still addressed her as Mary Newsom.

There were three children: Mary, Lucindy, and John. These children shared in the estate settlement of their Aunt Olive Pippin, their father's sister on 24 May 1806. Benjamin had died between a purchase at his father's estate sal on 12 Mar 1798 and the division of his father's estate on 26 May 1800, when his widow Mary received his share.

Mary bought 40 acres from her brother Thomas Newson on Sandy Red Pond on 25 Jan 1804. She wrote her will on 3 May 1805 and died that summer. The land was left to the three children. It was to be rented out until son John reached the age of 21. Asa Brown & Thomas Newsom were named executors. The was proved Aug Court 1805 and the Inventory of her estate was 18 Jan 1806.
