Individual Details
(19 Apr 1853 - 19 Nov 1943)
Two brothers saw each other for the second time in 60 years, and, the first time in 30 years, when they were reunited in Muskogee yesterday at the home of one’s daughter, Mrs. E. E. Gilliland, 102 North R street. The brothers were Jim F. Furr, 84, who lives three miles southeast of Muskogee and Marshall Furr, 72, of Albemarle, N.C. They were first separated 60 years ago when Jim Furr was 24 and his brother 12. The family was living in Fayetteville, Ark, and Marshall Furr left with other members of the family to go to North Carolina. Jim Furr remained behind. Thirty years later, they were reunited on a short visit of the elder Furr to North Carolina. Yesterday, Marshall Furr arrived in Muskogee with his son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Furr of Newton, N, C., and two grandsons, on a trip made especially to see his older brother. The Muskogee visit is being cut short, since the North Carolina family plans to return today, but members of the family said that the two brothers are “making the most of it,” since both feel it may be their last reunion.
