Death
Albemarle -- Jake Furr, 52, of 904 Wood St. died Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. at the Stanly County Hospital. He was born May 23, 1917, in Stanly County, the son of Mrs. Ida Smith Furr of Albemarle and the late Adam Furr. A veteran of World War II, he was employed at American and Efird Mill until his retirement. Also surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Shaver Furr, three daughters, Kay, Gail, and Nancy Furr, all of the home; three sons, Mickey, Tim, and Benny of the home; five brothers, Theodore Furr, Hubert Furr, Jesse Furr, Gilford Furr, and Barney Furr, all of Albemarle; and a sister, Mrs. Hilda Sides of Albemarle. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, of which he was a member, by the Rev. Albert Hinson. Burial will be at the Henderson Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The body will remain at the Stanly Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutes before the services The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.Military
