Death
ALBEMARLE, Nov. 5. — Vance Hazel Furr, 21, was instantly killed Saturday night about 10:30 when his car went out of control on Pee Dee avenue in Albemarle and crashed into two telephone poles. Investigating officers stated that the deceased, who was stationed at Ft. Jackson, S. C., with the United States Army, was driving west on Pee Dee avenue when his car failed make a sharp curve. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Furr of 617 Austin St., Albemarle. He finished Albemarle High school and was employed by Efird Manufacturing Company before joining the Army. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 pm. at Oak Grove Baptist Church and burial will be in Fairview cemetery with full military honors. In addition to his parents, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Theodore, Frank, Jake, Hubert, Edworth, Gilford, Barney, Melvin, and Mrs. Pos Sides.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, November 6, 1950
