Death

Ruby Shaver Furr Yow, age 87, of 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Monday, February 15th, 2010 at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center in Albemarle. Her funeral will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 17th in Stanly Funeral Home’s Chapel and her family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM just prior to the hour of the service. Rev. Les Schofield and Gene Parker will officiate and burial will be in Anderson Grove Baptist Church’s Cemetery. Born October 21st, 1922 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Yow was the daughter of the late William Travis and Eunice Thompson Shaver. She was a retired employee of Albemarle Spinning Mill and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jake Furr, her second husband, Hubert Yow, and one grandchild. She is survived by three sons: Tim Furr of Albemarle, NC, Mickey Furr of Badin, NC, and Benny Furr of Albemarle, NC; three daughters: Kay Parker of Jamestown, NC, Gail Thompson of Mt. Gilead, NC, and Nancy Parker of Albemarle, NC; two sisters: Annie Scott of Albemarle, NC and Betty Hardin of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
