Death
FAYETTEVILLE, May 2. — Hubert Lee Furr, 41, of Albemarle, a carpenter employed at Ft. Bragg, was burned to death in a trailer camp west of this city shortly after midnight last night. No other persons were injured. Flames were so intense, it was said, that rescue was impossible. Fayetteville firemen were called to prevent the spread of the fire to other trailers. Furr’s body was taken from the ruins when the blaze was finally extinguished. The remains will be taken to Albemarle tomorrow for burial. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Furr, of Oakboro. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Barbee Furr; his mother, six children, Mrs. Margaret Rogers, J. C., Ted, Tommy and Judy Furr, of Albemarle, and Mrs. Lavonne Love, of Stanfield: five brothers, Ralph, Bradley and William Furr, Oakboro, Glenn Furr, High Point, and Reece Furr, of Norwood, and five sisters, Mrs. Cornell L. Rogers, of Albemarle, and Mrs. Ronia Laidlaw, Mrs. Ruth Mullis, Misses Hazel and Nelma Furr, of Oakboro.News and Record, Greensboro, North Carolina, May 3, 1941
