Death
Tommy Rand Furr, 67, of 923 N. Main St., Oakboro, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday Feb. 14, 2005, in Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Oakboro United Methodist Church. The Rev. Anthony Moore and The Rev. Leslee Wray will officiate and burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery. Born Aug. 20, 1937, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Hubert Lee and Bessie Barbee Furr and was a knitting technical superintendent with Fruit of the Loom. He was a former Oakboro Town Commissioner and a former jaycee. He was a member of Oakboro United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Opalene Furr of Oakboro; two daughters Sherri Furr Huneycutt of Charlotte and Mitzi Furr Jackson of Rockwell; a son, Tommy “Rand” Furr Jr. of Charlotte; a brother, Ted D. Furr of Hickory; a sister, Judy Turner of Norwood; a sister-in-law, Emily Furr of Oakboro; a brother-in-law, John P. Rogers of Oakboro; three granddaughters, Savannah Huneycutt, Addison Huneycutt and Lana Jackson; and two grandsons, Austin Jackson and Cedric Furr. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle.Endnotes
