Death
OAKBORO— J. C. Furr, 55, of 113 West 9th St. died yesterday in Charlotte Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m, in Oakboro United Methodist Church by the Rev. Skipper Watwood, the Rev. Forest Church and the Rev. Bill Faggart. Burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery. The body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle where the family will be tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. It will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. He was born October 3, 1924, in Stanly County, son of the late Hubert Lee and Bessie Barbee Furr. He was a retired disabled mail carrier and a member of Oakboro United Methodist Church. Mr. Furr is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emily Almond Furr; one son, Jimmy Furr of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Melody Hyatt of Rt. 1, Peachland; two brothers, Ted Furr of Hickory and Tommy Furr of Oakboro. Three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rogers of Oakboro, Mrs. Lavonne Love of Fayetteville and Mrs. Judy Turner of Rt. 2, Norwood, and two grandchildren.Endnotes
