Death
Joe Brady Furr, 64, of Oakboro, died early Wednesday afternoon in the Stanly County Hospital following a sudden attack. He was a member of the Oakboro Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Forrest Church. Interment will be in the Oakboro Cemetery. The body was taken Thursday afternoon from Hartsell Funeral Home to the home to remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the rites. Born February 22, 1903 in Stanly County, Mr. Furr was son of the late C. C. and Maude Hartsell Furr. He was married to the former Miss Viola Curlee, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Hendrix of Raleigh; two grandchildren; four brothers, Ralph L. Furr: and C. Glenn Furr of Oakboro, Reece Furr of Norwood and Bill Furr of Kinston; five sisters, Mrs. Dean Laidlaw of Shelby, Mrs. Paul Rogers of Oakboro, Mrs. Brandon Mullis and Mrs. Ned Cooper of Albemarle, and Mrs. Doug Ammon of Charlotte.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, February 2, 1968
