Death
Hazel Furr Cooper, 94, of Albemarle passed away, August 1, 2016 at Trinity Place of Albemarle. Mrs. Cooper was born on April 4, 1922 to the late Croson and Maude Furr of Oakboro. She was married to the late, Ned Holt Cooper who preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Cooper retired from Wiscassett Mills with 45 years of service. She was a member of First Street United Methodist Church of Albemarle and was a lifetime member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was a prior Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Cooper served on the Board of Trustees, Administrative Council, was on the nominating committee and was a member of the choir. She and her husband, Ned, enjoyed dancing and belonged to Dr. Ivester’s square dance team. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Morgan (Terry) and son, Charles Cooper (Anne) of Albemarle. She had six grandchildren, Lisa Carter (Keith), Leslie Kinley (Stephan), Josh Cooper (Jennifer), Jeremy Cooper, David Cooper (Lauren), and Anna Cooper. She had five great-grandchildren, Austin Carter, Allison Carter, Morgan Kinley, Merrin Kinley and Madelynn Cooper. She is also survived by her sister Nelma Ammons. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Thursday, August 4th, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Mrs. Cooper will be remembered by her family with her infectious smile, her kindness to everyone, and her willingness to do anything for her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for memorials to be made to First Street United Methodist Church at 509 N 1st St. Albemarle, NC 28001 or Hospice of Stanly and The Uwharrie at 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
