Sunday, November 11, 2007 — Ned Holt Cooper, 86, of Albemarle, died at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, in Stanly Manor Nursing Center in Albemarle. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Virginia Herron will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle. Born Aug. 10, 1921, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Charles Monroe and Ila Holt Cooper. Retired from Wiscassett Mill Co. with 48 years of service, he was a member of First Street United Methodist Church, where he was a former member of the Administration Board and past president of his Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He received numerous medals. He was a former member of the Stanly County VFW. He was married to the living Hazel Virginia Furr Cooper of the home for 65 years. Other survivors include a son, Charles M. Cooper and wife Anne of Albemarle; a daughter, Pamela C. Morgan and husband Terry of Albemarle; six grandchildren, Lisa Carter, Lesliie Kinley, Joshua Cooper, Jeremy Cooper, David Cooper and Anna Cooper; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First Street United Methodist Church, 509 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001, or to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
