Alexander Anderson Petty
(June 8, 1828 - May 11, 1889)
Alexander Anderson Petty married Sarah Ann Vaughn and had 11 children. These Pettys left Pettytown about 1876 and settled at Coleman County, Texas. Part of the town of Coleman is built on part of Alexander Anderson Petty' s farm. It is also said that he and a man by the name of Coleman established the first bank in Coleman. Descendants of this Petty branch are to be found most all over the country. Uncle Ance, as his family called him, is buried beside his wife in the Coleman Cemetery, which contains many graves of his family.
