Andrew Lomnes Found Drowned in Mallalieu
Slipped Over Bank While Fishing
Found by His Son After Four Days Searching
Andrew Lomnes, who had been missing from home since Sunday, Oct. 15, was found Thursday forenoon by his son, Elmer, who had been searching every day since his disappearance, in Lake Mallalieu, near the Eli Larson home, in about 10 feet of water and possibly 10 or 15 from shore.
Mr. Lomnes was employed in the coach department of the Omaha shops at this place and this particular morning he went fishing and he was seen shortly after dinner by Sam Carroll and they both walked together for some distance. Mr. Lomnes had string of fish with him. It appears that later in the afternoon he went to the Larson home and remained there for some time.
Upon going home he went out of the rear door instead of the front door as was his usual custom. As the bank is quite steep near the house it is believed he slipped and fell on the ground and before he could regin himself or make an out cry, he fell into the lake with the result as above stated.
Deceased is survived by a wife and seven children, three girls and four boys: Mrs. A. N. Hanson of Portland, Oregon; Martha, Zelma, Elmer, Alexander, Phillip and Carl Lomnes. The funeral service was held at the family residence on Seventh street, Sunday afternoon, and interment made in the Willow River cemetery.
