Mrs. Lena Kvarnes, 85, Dies on Friday
Came to Hudson from Norway in 1891; Funeral Services Held Here Monday
Mrs. Ingmar (Lena) Kvarnes, 85 yers old, and a resident of Hudson for more than a half a century, died last Friday evening, April 21, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. A. Peterson, 1209 Seventh street, after an illness of five weeks.
Mrs. Kvarnes was born on October 30, 1864 in Rendalen, Norway. She was married to Ingmar Kvarnes on October 17, 1886, and in 1891, she and her husband and two children, Olaf and Magnhild (now Mrs. Peterson), came directly from Norway to Hudson. Devoted to her family, her chief interests were in the cre of her home and children.
She is survived by one daughter, Magnhild (Mrs. P. A. Peterson) of Hudson; three sons, Olaf of Two Harbors, Eric of Duluth and Melvin of Hudson; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Jasper Funeral Home Monday afternoon, Rev. N. P. Scheide officiating. During the services Mrs. Scheide sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "The Lord's Prayer". Burial was in Willow River Cemetery. Pallbearers were O. J. Solheim, Carl Sandeen, John S. Anderson, Melvin Lee, Oscr nderson and Sig Borge.
