Death
STANFIELD - Roy Wilson Furr, 85, formerly of 141 Oak Street, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Britthaven of Piedmont. Mr. Furr was born July, 8, 1919, in Stanly County, the son of the late Albert Arthur Furr and the late Carrie Jenkins. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Midland. The Rev. Thomas Gibbs will officiate. Burial will be at Saint Stephens Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Concord. The family will meet at the home of daughter, Geraldine Fink, 5575 Barrrier-Georgeville Road, Mount Pleasant. Mr. Furr worked in maintenance for Allison Manufacturing. Company, Stanfield. In addition to his parents Mr. Furr was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Beatrice Fink. Mr. Furr is survived by sons, Lanny Furr of Stanfield, Kenneth Furr of Morganton, Curtis Furr of Stanfield, Ronald Furr of Oakboro, and Tommy Furr of Stanfield; daughters, Geraldine Fink of Mount Pleasant, Shirley Eudy of Winston Salem, and Carolyn Torrence of Stanfield; brothers, Albert Furr and Bobby Furr both of Concord; sisters, Eloise Dawson of Concord, Omie Owens and Emma Gulledge of Kannapolis, and Bessie Smith of Oakboro; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Western Stanly Christian Ministry, 104 W. Stanly St., Stanfield, NC 28163.
