Death
Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 pm, at First Baptist Church of Oakboro, where she was a member, for Mrs. Lena Furr Drye, 72, of Fourth Street, Oakboro, who died Friday morning in Stanly County Hospital. Born April 9, 1897, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Annie Helms Furr and was married to the late Eli Thomas Drye. She is survived by three sons, John B. Drye and Carl T. Drye, both of San Francisco, Calif., and Keith F. Drye of Oakboro; five; daughters, Mrs. Geneva Scruggs and Mrs. Lewis Kluttz, both of Charlotte. Mrs. Jack Douglas of Hampton, Va., Mrs. Jack Goodman and Miss Doris Drye, both of Oakboro; three sons, Clyde, Furr and Claude Furr, both of Stanfield, and Rufus Furr of Oakboro; four sisters, Mrs. Lonnie Honeycutt and Mrs. Marshall Love both of Stanfield, Mrs. Kelly Helms of Monroe, and Mrs. Beulah Honeycutt of Flint, Mich., and 22 grandchildren. Rites were conducted by Rev. A. M. Kiser with burial in Philadelphia Baptist Church cemetery.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, January 13, 1970
