After living in different places, he settled in Glen Alpine, NC. He and Louisa Mann had three children. He was a greatly loved man in Glen Alpine. Over 1600 people attended his funeral, 600 of which were his relatives.

Death
News was received here yesterday of the death at his home in Tampa, Fla., yesterday afternoon of William R. Furr, 80-year-old native of North Carolina and grandfather of P. E. Furr of Raleigh. Funeral services will be held at the Glen Alpine, N. C. Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Mr. Moore, pastor, officiating. Mr. Furr, who was born near Concord, son of the late Paul P. Furr of Concord and Mrs. Eva Efird Furr of Stanly County, was active in manufacturing, contracting, real estate, investments and politics in Tampa. Survivors include his widow, formerly Miss Augusta T. Fox of Morganton; a son, W. R. Furr, Jr., of Tampa, and a sister, Mrs. J. M. I, William R. Furr, Sr. being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this my last WILL AND TESTAMENT that is to say:
FIRST – After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath
FIRST, to my Daughter Willie Max Amick, who is now deceased,to her and her three Children, namely, Mary Amick, and Bethine Amick, and her oldest son who uses the name Frankie West. To these three official Children of hers, I will and bequeath the sum of one dollar each, to be paid to them out of my estate. I also bequeath to her, or her estate, as her share, the sum of One Dollar.
AND NEXT, to the Estate of my Son Pearle Edgar Furr, who is now deceased, I bequeath the sum of One Dollar. To his Widow Pattie Kimball Furr, and three Children, namely, Dorothy Furr, Eloise Furr, and Billie Furr, to each I bequeath as their share, the sum of One Dollar, to be paid out of my Estate.
AND ALL of the balance of my Estate, both Real and Personal, I will and bequeath to my Wife, Augusta T. Furr, to do with as she sees fit, as long as she keeps my name.
After that, or her death, the balance of my residue, if any,shall be equally divided between my two Sons, William Ransom Furr Junior, and Aden Marvin Furr. If Aden Marvin Furr is deceased at that time, I will his Estate the Sum of One Dollar, and the balance of my Estate shall go to William Ransom Furr Junior.
I hereby appoint my youngest Son, William Ransom Furr Junior, Executor, of this my last and only Will and Testament, without Bond, ashe understands why Frankie West has not been better provided for, and this will leaves it to his discreation (sic) as Administrator without restraint, as to what is right for him.
