Death
William R. Furr, 64, Tampa engineer who turned author and won the Chapman Publishing Co. award of $10,000 in 1946 for his first novel, Tomorrow Achieved, died Saturday at Pinellas General Hospital in Largo. Mr. Furr lived at 3009 Harbor View Ave. In addition to novel writing, he contributed articles to many magazines. Mr. Furr's novel was winner over some 400 other manuscripts submitted to the Chapman Publishing Co., Kansas City, Mo. He was a native of Morgantown Linville, N.C. and came here from Morgantown, N.C.
