Death
Funeral services for Adrian Marvin Furr, a former Norfolk Southern trainman, and World War veteran were held Tuesday at 5:30 o'clock, from the home of B. J. Skinner, where he had resided daring the ten years of his residence here. Rev. C. B. Mashburn, of the Christian Church conducted the last rites and interment was made in Forest Hill cemetery, the Farmville American Legion Post taking an active part in the burial. Mr. Furr, who was 62 years of age died about 9 o'clock Sunday evening in a Greenville hospital of uremic poison and bronchial pneumonia, after an illness of only a few days. He was a native of Glenn Alpine, N. C, and a former resident of Newport and Knoxville, Tenn. He was connected with the government service for a number of years prior to the World War, in which he served as a sergeant of the 28th Infantry in the 1st Division for three years. He was in the battler of Montdidier-Noyon, Aisne-Maine, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Defensive Sector and received the French Fangene for bravery in action on September 9, 1919. He was gassed during the conflict and suffered constantly with conditions brought about by this. Mr. Furr is survived by his father, W. R. Furr, Sr., and a half brother, W. R. Furr, Jr., of Tampa Fla., two nieces, Misses Dorothy and Eloise Furr, and a nephew, Billy Furr, of Raleigh.The Farmville Enterprise, Farmville, North Carolina, August 30, 1935
